Mobile Apps are one of the most important forms of educational technology. Applications allow users to dive into a new world that is geared towards a particular goal. I use mobile applications every single day, not just in an educational context, but in my day-to-day life. Apps are a very important medium of communication in today's society. A lot of people have become reliant on smartphones to communicate, complete transactions, and receive information. With the emergence of Web 3.0 and the metaverse, applications have become a lot more interactive, and are truly turning into an alternative reality.
One important App that I have used in an educational context is Canvas. Canvas is very user friendly and has the specific purpose of organizing the content of a college courseload from both the student perspective and the instructor perspective. Students are able to have access to textbooks, open channel of communication to instructors and other students, and a way to turn in assignment, all at arm's reach. The application is very organized and it has become very widely used in education.
A second group of app that I have used in education is UDB and Beam. I have specifically used these apps for marching band. These apps organize each member's marching instructions and musical parts to be played in a way that personalizes it to each individual member of a band consisting of over 400 individuals. I find the app to be very helpful so that I can have easy access to material in the middle of a practice. The app allows for a steady flow of switching between songs and marching sets. It shows how apps can have very niche benefits that can make life so much more convenient.
